FIX Linens 400 TC, Sateen Weave, Long-Staple 100% Cotton Fabric —Designed for Hosts
When it comes to bedding, not all cotton is created equal.
Understanding what makes one fabric better than another can be confusing, especially with endless claims about “high thread counts” and “luxury finishes.”
At FIX Linens, we set out to design durable, comfortable, hotel-quality bedding that performs beautifully for Airbnb and short-term rental hosts.
Here’s what makes our 400-thread-count, long-staple cotton fabric stand out in a sea of white sheets.
The Four Key Elements of Cotton Quality
Thread Count — The Sweet Spot at 400
What it is:
Thread count translates to the number of threads woven into one square inch of material. This number is calculated by analyzing the weft (horizontal weave) and warp (vertical weave) of fabric.
Good to know:
When it comes to thread count, the 400's seem to be the sweet spot. When you get beyond the high 400's, some cheating and marketing spin kicks in. Companies spin together low-quality cotton, adding extra threads into weft threads to increase a product's perceived thread count but doing nothing to increase the fabric quality. We've all fallen for the too-good-to-be-true low-cost "high thread count" bedding only to realize that after just a few washes it starts to look pilled and sad.
The bottom line:
At 400 thread count, our sheets hit the perfect balance betweensoftness, strength, and breathability. The result islong-lasting, hotel-quality comfortthat holds up to frequent washing and turnover use.
2. Cotton Quality — Why Long-Staple Matters
What it is:
Cotton quality varies widely from region to region. Quality is defined in terms of the length of the staple, which translates to the length of the cotton fiber.
Good to know:
Long-staple cotton is softer and more durable than short-staple cotton, and it maintains its strength even after hundreds of washes.
The bottom line:
FIX sources only the highest quality for all of our linens. Our long-staple, 100% cotton is designed for commercial-grade durability — strong enough for hospitality use, yet soft enough for guests to love.
3. Weave — Why We Chose Sateen
What it is:
Sateen sheets are woven with athree-over-one-under pattern, creating a soft, smooth surface with a subtle sheen. Percale, by contrast, uses aone-over-one-under weavethat feels crisp and cool.
Good to know:
Sateen’s tighter weave makes it naturally wrinkle-resistant and mildew-resistant, making it ideal for humid climates and frequent laundering — two realities of hosting.
Sateen sheet's mildew resistant qualities also make them a good choice for those who suffer from allergies.
The bottom line:
FIX uses sateen for its wrinkle-free properties, mildew resistance and luxury finish.
4. OEKO-TEX® Certification — Safe and Responsible
What it is:
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificationensures that every component of a textile — from the threads to the dyes — has been tested and proven free of harmful chemicals.
Good to know:
To earn this certification, fabrics must pass tests for more than100 potentially hazardous substances.
The bottom line:
All FIX Linens products areOEKO-TEX® certified, guaranteeing they’re safe for you, your guests, and the planet.
