Bring Comfort and Joy to your STR Guests This Holiday Season

Tis' the season for holiday bookings! For many non-coastal properties, November through December are considered peak season. For the short-term rental host, this is the time to impress repeat guests and attract new ones. AT FIX Linens we are unwrapping some ways to harness that holiday spirit and use it to make sure a stay at your property becomes part of a tried and true holiday tradition.

Comfort and Joy

  • Evoke feelings of comfort and coziness by outfitting beds and furnishings with lush blankets and fuzzy pillows that feature warm festive colors.  Adding these small touches to beds, couches or an entryway bench will make all merry and bright. To save storage space and your budget, look into pillow covers that can be changed out during the holidays.

Deck the Halls

  • Add a pop of festive greenery. While your property doesn’t have to look like Santa’s Workshop, adding a simple and classic garland over a mirror, doorway or across the mantle can be just the holiday glam that will help guests feel at home during the holidays.
  • If you have live or artificial plants in your space, consider changing these out for the season.  Sprigs of holly, juniper, evergreens, or even perfectly placed pinecones or dried fruit can add a tasteful touch to your space during the winter months.

Drink a Cup of Kindness

  • A coffee bar can reach holiday status by incorporating selections like cinnamon tea, hot chocolate and peppermint flavoring.

  • If your property is frequented by families, adding a full fledged hot chocolate bar with peppermint sticks, marshmallows and holiday themed mugs or traveler cups will please even those kiddos on the naughty list.

Oh Christmas Tree!

  • A property featuring a decorated tree during the holiday season can be a draw for many families who are celebrating away from home. If this is not feasible or you're concerned about limiting prospective guests, having a small simple artificial tree available for set-up is a good option. This is an item you can mention in your property listing which can be starred or bolded during the holiday season.

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons

  • Having gift wrapping supplies available to guests is also a great idea. Simplify your supply with scissors, scotch tape and a neutral paper that can appeal to any celebration. We love a brown paper wrapping with various colorful or natural twines. Include a set of markers, or colorful pens that can be used to personalize or decorate.

Do you Hear What I Hear?

  • Don’t forget the ambiance! Stocking your property with holiday-themed books, records, and movies is also a great way to make sure your guests don’t get the winter blues.

Let It Snow!

  • Providing outdoor entertainment  options is a surefire way to make sure your guest take full advantage of what your property has to offer. Make sure plenty of firewood is on hand if your space has a fireplace or outdoor fire-pit. There is nothing like a roaring fire to help your guests create a picture perfect holiday.
  • A snowman kit and sleds are great additions to help guests round out their holiday experience and keep everyone joyful and engaged .
  • Want to achieve super host status? Attribute a drawer or basket in your property for new inexpensive winter gloves- a commonly lost or forgotten item that will be much appreciated by potentially frost bitten guests.

The holidays are hectic enough! Don’t get bogged down by prepping your space with over the top decorations. Providing a space for your guests that is comfortable and functional is of the highest importance. Adding some of the aforementioned elements to your property will bring the holidays home without overwhelming or overcrowding your guests.
